Hi guys, sooo sorry for the lack of posts recently. Yes, I am still back from vacation, but unfortunately it seems that my computer is not. I've been having MAJOR issues with my laptop, it can't even handle having firefox open without freezing these days, so I'm relegated to IE, and even then it seems like cnn.com is way too much for it to deal with. I hope to get it fixed or get a new one and be back to normal next week, sorry for the long absense!

So, I'm sure you noticed the lack of posts yesterday and today.. well, Zach is sick, yesterday afternoon he woke up from his nap with a fever of 102 and we just went downhill from there :(. He was up pretty much all night screaming and burning up with a few hour long naps stuck in, so needless to say we're both exhausted today! His temperature and screaming were unchanged this morning so we took him to the doctor, turns out he has "herpangina" technical term that amounts to a viral infection that brings with it painful blisters to the back of the throat. We have a recommended treatment from the doctor and he's doing MUCH better today, although definitely not 100% by any means. He is thoroughly enjoying the prescribed pudding, milkshakes, and ice cream though (seriously, the doctor said that's what we should give him, lucky kid! I never had a doctor like that when I was little!!). Hopefully he'll be better soon, we're headed to San Diego on vacation tomorrow, and I had planned to line up some posts to go out while I was gone, but, I was planning to do that today, and with Zach being sick I haven't had time :(. So the lack of posts will continue unfortunately. Hope everyone has a GREAT 4th of July!!

Cheap diapers at Target!

I don't usually post on the weekends, but this deal is worth mentioning. We were in Target tonight and noticed that they have a bunch of boxes of diapers marked 15% off, Huggies and Pampers. We got 2 boxes of Pampers Baby Dry Diapers Sz 4 (126 ct) for $20.28 each, then used our $4 off of 2 Pampers coupon to bring it down to $18.28 each, making it around $0.14 a diaper, this is a great price! So check your Target! They didn't have these with the rest of the diapers in our Target (Gilbert and Germann), they were in the back with the rest of the bulk packaged items. I've got a bunch of Huggies coupons that we're not going to use that would be great to pair with this deal, first to reply in the comments will get them, I'll email you to get the info to mail them out so don't forget to include your email addr :).

Things to do this weekend in PHX

Get into the Phoenix Children's Museum free tonight, for Free First Friday Nights presented by Target! 6-10pm.

Target is super generous this weekend, their 3-for-free campaign is still going and applies this Sunday. Get into 3 Mesa museums for free on Sunday noon-5pm.

Family Farm Day at Tolmachoff Farms Saturday from 8am - 2pm, $4 admission for ages 2 & up: Our annual farm day is a great day to come out and visit the farm. This is the best time of the summer season to be in the u-pick garden plus we also have fun children's activities, watermelon eating and corn husking contest, train ride, picture on a pony, and much more, so come on out and visit the farm.

Saturday is Report Card Day at the Tempe Kiwanis wave pool 1-3pm. Bring in your kiddo's last report card and get in 1/2 price, a report card of straight A's gets them in free!

Starry Safari Nights at the Phoenix Zoo start this weekend, $5 admission, $4 for members. Starry Safari is fun for the whole family. Enjoy water slides, inflatable fun houses, animal meet & greets, plus Zoo rides including the Safari Train, camel, wagon rides and the Carousel.* The new Yakulla Caverns and spray ground will also be open till dusk.

And there's always splash pads and pools. Chandler has some great pools including the Mesquite Groves Aquatic Center and Hamilton Aquatic Center which have super cheap entry fees at $1.50 for adults, $0.50 for kids, and play pools, lazy rivers, zero-depth entry areas, and water slides. They also have a few parks with splash pads like Desert Breeze and Espee Park, these are free so if that's enough to cool you off it's even better!

Play Mats!

I wanted to pass along this find that everyone I know seems to love. We have mostly tile floors in Zach's play area (aka the lower level of our house), when he started having more active tummy time I would use a blanket to buffer him from the cold hard tile. Of course, as some of you know, Zach was a big time spitter when he was little so this led to a lot of laundry. Plus the blanket was always in the way on the floor and basically just a tripping hazard for Mommy and Daddy. So, in my quest to solve this issue I found these big foam play mats that are perfect for his play area!

They're about 18-24 inches square, they interlock so you can choose the configuration and placement to fit your space, and best of all, they are REALLY easy to clean. I'm anal retentive so I vacuum them and wipe them down with clorox wipes at least once a week and before and after any playgroup session we have at the house. So far they've held up great! A couple nicks from the dogs toe nails when he gets fiesty and wants to play on them, but nothing serious :). And as Zach becomes more mobile and has friends over to play, it's a great way for him to have his own space with toys and stuff!

We found them at Walmart in the kids toy section, at around $20 for a 4-pack. We ended up with 3 packs to make a 4x3 tile play area, these are great gift ideas for family, useful and fun (how often do you get both as gifts for your little ones from family?). These are similar but a little more pricey, and you can find ones with ABC's or 123's on them online, but none of the ones I've seen online were as good a bargain square footage-wise as the ones in store at Walmart. Okay, so I recently became a bzz agent, and got my first bzz kit in the mail yesterday. It has 2 new OFF! products, OFF!^® Clip-On^™ Mosquito Repellent, and OFF!^® PowerPad^® Lamp. I'm especially interested in trying the clip-on repellent, I am usually an all-you-can-eat buffet for mosquitos in the summer time and I HATE spraying on greasy, smelly repellent, so if this works I'm sold! Info on this: All you have to do is clip it onto your belt or bag, and a quiet little fan circulates an odorless repellent all around you.

The second product, the lamp, could be equally useful for outdoor get togethers, BBQs, etc. They claim that it provides protection for a 15'x15' area, the same as lighting 15 citronella candles. I'm excited to try both of these items, I swear every time I step outdoors in mosquito season I come back in with an itchy red welt :(. Our Sophie came in the mail this week, yes I finally broke down and got one, Zach's teething has been rough, and when we saw a friend from baby group with one praising her usefulness I decided to bite the bullet and get one. Thanks Laura :).

So what's the big deal with her? She's made of 100% natural rubber, and food grade paint, she's small, light, easy to grip, a new and fun texture, she squeaks, she's soft, and she's easy and comforting to chew on.

Admittedly, Zach wasn't sure at first, I think he was a little freaked by the texture, but the second time I offered her he snatched her and started munching on her right away, it seemed to soothe his little gums. She's a little pricey at around $20, but definitely worth it if it makes the little guy feel better, and being all natural makes me feel good about it too. The other, slightly anticipated drawback? The dog is infatuated with her, she looks, smells, and sounds just like all his favorite toys (latex squeaky things), and I'm pretty sure it's torture for him to watch Zach play with it and know that he's going to get in trouble if he gets a hold of her. We caught the dog with her the other day after we'd inadvertently left them alone, he knew he was in trouble, but the face he gave us, was pretty much "Mom, I HAD to, I couldn't control myself".

So, moral of the story, it's a good product, baby will love it, but maybe get the pup a toy at the same time so he's not fixated on her too! :).

- Open House with Elmo! at My Gym Children's Fitness center in Scottsdale, Saturday and Sunday 2:30-6pm, pictures, prizes and giveaways, and it's free!

- Movies in the park at Tempe Kiwanis Park is still going on, Ratatouille this week, such a cute movie! This is a free event, tonight at 7pm.

- Schnepf farms Peach & Art Festival, the festival includes hay rides to orchards, peach picking, a peachy pancake breakfast, a peach pie eating contest, arts and crafts booths, amusement rides and chef demonstrations. $2 per person 7:30-4pm Friday, Saturday, & Sunday.

- Armed Forces Wave Pool Theme Weekend at the Tempe Kiwanis wave pool, May 16-17, 1-3pm, show your military ID and get in free!

- Animal Hike and Seek Flashlight Walk at Usery park, tonight at 7:30. $6 per car.
