The Disney "A Christmas Carol" Train tour will be in AZ this weekend. May 29-31, 9am-9pm at the Grand Canyon Railway in Williams. Admission is free!

Sesame Street Sunnyday Activities at Changing Hands bookstore. Saturday May 30 11-1, free! Today Changing Hands salutes the longest running children’s program on American television: Sesame Street! We’ll make our own Sesame Street-inspired puppets, read stories and enjoy cookies and milk, just as Cookie Monster would. We’ll also play trivia games and host a costume contest. Kids, perfect your vampire accent because there will be a “Count Like the Count” contest!

Family Fun Day at the Challenger Space Center, May 30 11am-4pm. Bring the entire family to enjoy some hands-on fun and activities. Launch a fizzy rocket, enjoy arts & crafts, watch a movie or experience a simulated launch into outer space aboard our Earth Space Transit Module and still be home in time for dinner! All activities are included in your paid admission to the center.

And there's always splash pads and pools, here's Tempe's: Pools and Splash Pads. I'll list a different city's water works every week, let me know if there's a particular city you want the scoop on! :).

Rehash to save money

Rehash is a website where you can trade your used clothes, similar to how swaptree works for books (you can trade books on rehash as well, but I've never tried it). A quick search shows that there are some baby clothes and bottles being traded too, and you can definitely find a cute little something for yourself while you're at it! Saving money and keeping stuff out of landfills, where's the downside?

Sesame Street videos online

Did you know that there are Sesame Street videos that you can play online? You can browse by subject, theme, or character. I don't know about your kiddos, but even though he doesn't watch Sesame Street regularly, my little one is a HUGE fan of Elmo, I often pull up his picture on my computer to quiet him down when he's having a tantrum, so this will be a great resource for us!

the bzzz on a new OFF! Product

Okay, so I recently became a bzz agent, and got my first bzz kit in the mail yesterday. It has 2 new OFF! products, OFF!^® Clip-On^™ Mosquito Repellent, and OFF!^® PowerPad^® Lamp. I'm especially interested in trying the clip-on repellent, I am usually an all-you-can-eat buffet for mosquitos in the summer time and I HATE spraying on greasy, smelly repellent, so if this works I'm sold! Info on this: All you have to do is clip it onto your belt or bag, and a quiet little fan circulates an odorless repellent all around you.

The second product, the lamp, could be equally useful for outdoor get togethers, BBQs, etc. They claim that it provides protection for a 15'x15' area, the same as lighting 15 citronella candles. I'm excited to try both of these items, I swear every time I step outdoors in mosquito season I come back in with an itchy red welt :(. ahh, sweet Sophie

Our Sophie came in the mail this week, yes I finally broke down and got one, Zach's teething has been rough, and when we saw a friend from baby group with one praising her usefulness I decided to bite the bullet and get one. Thanks Laura :).

So what's the big deal with her? She's made of 100% natural rubber, and food grade paint, she's small, light, easy to grip, a new and fun texture, she squeaks, she's soft, and she's easy and comforting to chew on.

Admittedly, Zach wasn't sure at first, I think he was a little freaked by the texture, but the second time I offered her he snatched her and started munching on her right away, it seemed to soothe his little gums. She's a little pricey at around $20, but definitely worth it if it makes the little guy feel better, and being all natural makes me feel good about it too. The other, slightly anticipated drawback? The dog is infatuated with her, she looks, smells, and sounds just like all his favorite toys (latex squeaky things), and I'm pretty sure it's torture for him to watch Zach play with it and know that he's going to get in trouble if he gets a hold of her. We caught the dog with her the other day after we'd inadvertently left them alone, he knew he was in trouble, but the face he gave us, was pretty much "Mom, I HAD to, I couldn't control myself".

So, moral of the story, it's a good product, baby will love it, but maybe get the pup a toy at the same time so he's not fixated on her too! :).

- For the little ones ages 2-5, "Under the Sea" event at Sahuaro Ranch Park in Glendale, basically a bunch of water activities for the kiddos to play and stay cool. This is free, today 10am - 12pm

- Open House with Elmo! at My Gym Children's Fitness center in Scottsdale, Saturday and Sunday 2:30-6pm, pictures, prizes and giveaways, and it's free!

- Movies in the park at Tempe Kiwanis Park is still going on, Ratatouille this week, such a cute movie! This is a free event, tonight at 7pm.

- Schnepf farms Peach & Art Festival, the festival includes hay rides to orchards, peach picking, a peachy pancake breakfast, a peach pie eating contest, arts and crafts booths, amusement rides and chef demonstrations. $2 per person 7:30-4pm Friday, Saturday, & Sunday.

- Armed Forces Wave Pool Theme Weekend at the Tempe Kiwanis wave pool, May 16-17, 1-3pm, show your military ID and get in free!

- Animal Hike and Seek Flashlight Walk at Usery park, tonight at 7:30. $6 per car.
